FOREST The Prince of Dumgoyne passed over the π bridge today. Absolutely gutted , he was my best friend and confidant for all his life 2012-2026. Through the good times and the bad. He was all types of dog Gun dog -πππ scared of no noise, guns fireworks no problem. Assistance dog - πππππ he looked after you when you needed it War dog - πππ 2 huskys attacked him on the beach once and the owner was screaming get him off my dog as he had one of them by the throat Runner - π ππππHe is fast for a lab, Julie used to say, so fast that he could catch squirrels regularly in the barracks. Invariably he would be bitten on the nose when he did so and never did figure out they went up trees and not around them when he didn't succeed. Retriever - π he was a pedigree from champions. But i think this gene passed him by. I used to get him to fetch the dead ducks from Nafferton Mere. He would go find them and then, despite my protestations, spend the next half an hour swimming round with them being all proud of himself before he brought them back. He loved swimming in the sea and would fetch and destroy balls in the roughest of storms in the winter. I bought him an indestructible ball one summer and threw it in for him. He just looked at me and said no chance. So as the ball cost 6 quid i took my clothes off and swam to get it. As i get there who is behind me trying to get the ball with a face saying thats my job. π€£ Tom wrote a lovely poem about him. FOREST Paul, Sarah and Josh, dear Forest stayed with you Through all the hurt life pulled you through. When days were dark and hope was gone, He gave you strength to carry on. You had to feed him, walk him too, And in that way, he carried you. Through all the pain you could not hide, Your faithful boy stayed by your side. When Paul met Sarah, love then grew, And Forest shared that journey too. He walked beside you both each day, A constant love along the way. On long, long walks through hills and land, He stayed so close at your command. He loved the water, wild and free, And found his joy so easily. He chased the ball with joyful glee, Then kept it close so happily. Heβd only bring it back once more, When he was ready, not before. When Josh moved in, with joy so free, Forest showed him how love could be. He made him feel at home each day, Like part of family right away. And then the hardest walk did come, Beneath that quiet, final sun. This last goodbye is full of pain, Until you meet your boy again. But Forest lives in all you see, In every hill, by land and sea. He was your boy, your friend, your light, And stays with you each day and night. Good night forest, we hope you have sweet dreams, chasing balls and jumping in streams.
